An electric drive project headed by Nio took a first prize in this year's China-SAE science and technology awards, announced Oct. 28, CarNewsChina reported. Nio developed the 925V system, which uses continuous-wave windings, together with two Chinese universities and steelmaker Baosteel. It reuses the motor and inverter to raise the voltage from lower-voltage DC chargers, with a reported peak of 202.78 kW. The drive has been in mass production since December 2024 and Nio fits it to the ET9, ES8, ES9, Onvo L80 and Onvo L90.
