BMW said a new i3 50L covered 1,213 km (754 miles) in China without recharging, the longest single trip so far for one of its electric cars.
The run began at BMW's Tiexi plant in Shenyang and used highways, rural routes, national roads and city streets. BMW engineers did the driving, and everyday range will vary with temperature, speed and load.
The car carries a 113.4 kWh battery with large cylindrical cells. It uses BMW's sixth-generation eDrive and an 800-volt system that charges at up to 400 kW.
BMW said the battery system has entered production at its powertrain facility in Shenyang. The company plans nearly 20 new models with Neue Klasse technology in China during 2027.
